The Internet is full of beautiful blogs decorated with buttons and bunting and websites full to bursting with video clips and guarantees to change your body. Finding your way through the blogs to get the information you need can be time-consuming and frequently ends somewhere entirely different to where you’d hoped to go!
This post will share my favourite blogs and websites at this point in time; people or companies who have inspired me in some way. If you’ve read any of my previous posts on Mummyology or have visited my Facebook Business Page (thank you 🙂 ) then you’ll have an idea of what I’m about. I’m passionate about inspiring people to eat more healthily, simply and at a cheaper cost, without sacrificing taste or social life. I’m a mum of two young children and work as a personal trainer, massage therapist and nutrition consultant. I aim to help clients, friends and family to achieve their personal best and feel full of energy and vitality.

I’m a huge fan of Jamie Oliver. I love his simple style of cooking and use of natural flavours, herbs and spices. He doesn’t overload dishes with butter, cream or pastry like many TV chefs. I recently discovered his new site dedicated to teaching today’s youth basic cooking skills. If you’re a teenager, or parent of a teenager who’s looking for some direction or focus then give this online course a try. It’s packed full of basic and more advanced techniques. Jamie’s motto is:

Many years ago I was introduced to The Raw Food Bible and The New Raw Energy books by Leslie Kenton (Click Here to view the books on Amazon UK) and have incorporated many of her techniques and recipes into my nutrition consultations and my own family’s diet over the years. I always encourage a high percentage of raw food into most people’s diets but sometimes we need a little inspiration to get away from the basic lettuce, tomato, carrot and cucumber combination! At times like this I turn to one of two great raw food websites. The first is by Alissa Cohen The Raw Food Diet and the second is Rawfully Tempting by Barbara Shevkun. Beautiful photography and lots of delicious recipes that will take you on a journey of discovery.
If you’re not quite ready for raw food genius, then have a look at Lorraine Pascale’s website Lorraine Pascale. This website is beautifully presented in smart red and grey on white, is simple to navigate and is updated regularly. Lorraine has been featured in her own British television series and has many inspirational books for sale. Her latest book Fast, Fresh and Easy Food, helps you to put together fresh ingredients to make simple meals without slaving for hours in the kitchen. Lorraine is so encouraging, motivational and passionate that you cannot help but come away feeling inspired!
When I need some exercise inspiration, I love to read Jamie Eason’s articles and recommend her LiveFit body transformation programme as it follows good quality nutrition and a three stage structured exercise plan. Build muscle first, then lean out. Find Jamie’s Official Facebook Page here Jamie Eason and follow the links on her About page to the LiveFit programme and other resources. Jamie is a beautiful human being whose vitality and energy literally jump out of the screen and leave you feeling revved up and ready for a good exercise session.
My favourite health and fitness magazine is Oxygen Magazine I’ve got every copy since it started in 1999 and love the fact it’s now online and easy to read on iPad and other tablet or mobile devices. Oxygen is dedicated to women’s fitness and is an essential tool for the modern woman who wants to be toned, strong, athletic and sexy. (Not provocatively – just confident and happy in her skin) Oxygen was set up by Robert Kennedy, an inspiration to female fitness enthusiasts the world over, who sadly passed away this year.
Robert ‘Tough Love’ Kennedy was his nickname – due to the often blunt (but honest) responses he’d give to readers and wannabe fitness models. His magazine continues with his wonderful team, headed by his beautiful wife Tosca Reno who transformed herself at age 40 from frumpy mum to awesome!! Now over 50, Tosca inspires people the world over with her Eat-Clean diet principles (I gave lots of my clients copies of The Eat Clean Diet book last Christmas!) Tosca looks amazing and is a true testament to the fact that if you exercise effectively, eat clean and live a fulfilled life that a fabulous physique can be yours at any age, whatever your genetics or family history.
Another favourite fitness model, fit ‘mom’ and all-round inspirational female is Kim Dolan Leto Her website is packed full of motivational exercise plans, tips and techniques, nutritional advice and a section called Yummy Mummy Fitness where she offers advice for mums on how to incorporate exercise and healthy eating into a busy lifestyle.

(June 16, 2016 - 3:56 pm)Exercise can help prevent excess weight gain or help maintain weight loss. When you engage in physical activity, you burn calories. The more intense the activity, the more calories you burn. You don’t need to set aside large chunks of time for exercise to reap weight-loss benefits. If you can’t do an actual workout, get more active throughout the day in simple ways by taking the stairs instead of the elevator or revving up your household chores.
