4 EGGstremely easy Easter ideas

Here are some super easy and cute Easter Crafts that we have been making this week…

With Easter fast approaching, Freya and I have loved turning our attention from last weeks snow fun here in Jersey to some more Springlike crafts and bakes. If you are looking to ‘get in the mood’ for Easter now that we have officially had the first day of spring, then take a look!

Upcycled Easter Basket

Each Easter we have a big family brunch at my sisters house and, of course, this includes a little look around her garden to see whether the Easter Bunny has been! I thought it would be fun if we made our own baskets this year so Freya and I thought we would get started!

As I have mentioned before, I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to junk that looks like it could be re-purposed, so we had a good root around the box of boxes and Freya found a nice size box to upcycle.

It was easy, mix some paint with a bit of PVA glue (like Elmers), this helps the paint to cover any printing on the box I find. Wait for it to dry (and make something else lovely.. see following craft!)

Once dry, decorate how you feel. I have seen lots of yarn wrapped things on Pinterest recently so thought I might try a bit of that and Freya smothered it all over with some lovely Easter stickers we picked up at the Pound Shop (dollar store).

I have a huge bag of multi coloured Ric Rac paper that I never know what to do with so we stuffed the Easter basket with it too as it was lots of lovely bright Spring colours and I added a ribbon handle and Hey Presto! A cute, super easy, Upcycled Easter Basket.

Eggstremely easy egg cups

While we were waiting for the paint to dry on the Easter Basket craft, I thought we would help to solve my sisters problem of never having enough egg cups for everyone! As we are STILL WAITING for some decent weather to get sewing some seeds for our veg patch, I have loads of little seed pots waiting to be used. Perfect size for an egg with a little tweaking!

I snipped around the top of the seed pot and folded over the top to make the pot a little smaller and the egg fit a little better. Then Freya got to painting them all kinds of lovely bright colours. I wrapped some wool around a couple of them and Freya finger printed some spots onto the others and they look so lovely and bright, I can’t wait to see them on the Easter brunch table.

Choccy Nests

As the levels of Chocolate are already rising in this house pre-Easter, I thought it would be nice to farm some of it out to others! It is my mums birthday tomorrow so we were making a cake for her and thought we would add some extra mini cakes into the bakefest for Bea to take to a friends on a playdate. I LOVE using silicone cupcake cases and found some fab mini ones which are much better for the kids – they are small enough that the kids actually eat the cake and not just the icing!

Once the little lovelies were cooked and cooled, I chopped their tops off and filled it with a little vanilla buttercream, some chocolate sprinkles and topped them off with some tiny chocolate eggs. Just right for a naughty mouthful for a mummy or a decent nibble for the kids!

As we were going to some special friends, we made a little ‘Eastery’ box for the cakes too – simply by painting an old tin foil box! The mini cakes fitted perfectly and made a lovely little pressie for our friends.

Cheep Cheap Chick coops

Last but not least, in fact, its my favourite little craft of the moment are these gorgeous little chick houses. My friend had made them with her kids after seeing them on Pinterest and I just had to make some to hang up in our house too. They are also SUPER EASY with really cute results. Start collecting your TP rolls 🙂

Paint the tubes whatever colour you choose. Once dry, cut a little door into the tube.

Cut a circle of paper to make the roof; I chose some lovely brightly patterned paper I had, you could use wrapping paper, coloured card or design your own! Draw a circle by using a plate or lid as a template.

Cut into the middle of the circle and wrap it around itself to make a cone, sticking the paper with some tape so that it stays in shape. Thread some cotton onto a bead or button and through the top of the roof so that the bead acts as a stopper when you hang your chick house up. Glue the roof onto the tube and your house is done. All that is left to do is to glue a little chick into its window. They look lovely hanging up as Easter decor, I would like to have loads of them hanging in my kitchen!
